56Vicky Cristina Barcelona is the new movie directed by Woody Allen with Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem.
Vicky and Cristina are very good friends and each one has his own vision of love. One is traditional and the other is ready to try new experiences. When a distant family from Vicky offers her to pass the summer at Barcelona and both are pleased to accept this invitation. During a night, they meet Juan Antonio in an art gallery and this one will invite them to go to Oviedo for a weekend...
Fans will say that Woody made always good movies but in my case, I watched some and some I didn't like but this one is a delight to watch it because it is different. The main difference I notice it is that the movie didn't start with a jazz music like the majority of his films but with a spanish song called Barcelona from the spanish band Giulia y Los Tellarini. For me, it s quite important this change since everybody knows that Woody is a jazz fan and it shows the will of the director to do this movie completely in the spanish world. It just missed that the characters would talk in spanish instead of the english all along the movie.
A love movie with his particular sense of humor, in which you will see different steps of love that humans can face. I will not say too much in case if you didn't watch it yet.
The other main character is, of course, the town of Barcelona, capital of Catalonia Spain. In one of his interview, he said "when i started this script, I would like to have a story on which Barcelona would be a key character. I wished to celebrate this town that I love a lot and this country that I like. This city, with an extraordinary visual beauty, enjoys of an atmosphere very romantic."

And last sad news before to close this topics, Charles H. Joffe, the executive producer of Woody Allen since the movie "Take the Money and Run" in 1969, died the july 9th 2008 of a cancer at 78 years old.
